Too Many Good Games, Too Little Time

If you're going to have a dilemma, this is a good one to have to endure. Between my Steam press account and a stack of games that includes titles for PC, PSP, PS3 and Xbox 360, I don't have enough time to play my collection. My list of titles goes back to this past Summer, and if I'm going to catch up I have to do it before Holiday season. 2010.

I've already weeded out the games I know I'm not going to finish--the crappy games that I can't be bothered to mention. That leaves me with, to name a few:

  • Red Faction: Guerilla (PC)
  • Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood (PC)
  • Batman: Arkham Asylym (Xbox 360 and/or PC)
  • Forza Motorsport 3 (X360)
  • Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3)
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PC)
  • Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (PSP)
  • Dragon Age: Origins (PC)
  • Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 (X360)
  • Undead Knights (PSP)
  • Borderlands (PC)
  • etc
Okay, so it's not a terrible thing to have more games than I can play. Best of all, now that Amazon accepts game trade-ins, allows you to spend the proceeds on anything on the entire site, and offers more dough per title than GameStop, I can fund a nice Christmas for the little ones with trades alone. Take that, Santa!

I've got blogs to update, proposals to write, work to find, and, of course, games to play. Someday I'll even post impressions! Stay tuned.

  1. Definitely finish Batman:AA. It's not as long as you think. The percentage meter isn't a true reflection of how long you have left to play. I was pretty surprised when the ending came, as I was expecting a bit more. In any case, that game is absolutely wonderful. It never felt repetitive or boring.

Tried Modern Warfare 2 for a little bit, but didn't.... get it. I dunno. Just not my thing any more.

Right now I'm about 4 hours into Dragon Age: Origins. The jury's still out on this one. I hope it gets better as right now the learning curve still seems pretty steep!

  2. For just a second here I thought you were going to setup a massive giveaway! Don't listen to me, Amazon is the way to go. :)

  3. I finished Batman on X360; now I'm taking a deeper dive into it, exploring more, solving more Riddler thingies, etc on PC. And man, it looks SO MUCH BETTER on PC. I realize the 360 is a 4 year old machine, but holy moly, time has not been good to its graphics!

As for MW2 and DA:O, I love them both. Wow. MW2 has some seriously gut-wrenching missions, yeah, but it's simply amazing. Sure, it's twisted and disturbing, but so, I presume, is modern warfare. DA:O is tough, but I love RPGs and I love real, honest-to-god tactical games (most real-time "strategy" games are reflex and agility tests, not tactical or strategic in any way). DA:O is right up my ally.

It's kinda sad, in fact, that an RPG is providing the best tactical experience I've enjoyed since Dawn of War II. For me, about 90% of RTS games are SiNOs (Strategy in Name Only)!

  4. Mortenzen, a giveaway would be a great idea, actually...if I ever finish any of these games!
